Welcome! Ceád Míle Fáilte! Bienvenue!
This site is the point of contact for Irish medical and nursing professionals who volunteer in Lourdes – either as members of a diocesan or other group pilgrimage or as individuals with the Hospitalité de Notre Dame de Lourdes (HNDL).
This group was commissioned in 2012 by Dr Sandro de Franciscis, who is the Médecin Permanent & Président du Bureau des Constatations Médicales de Lourdes et de l’AMIL (Association Médicale Internationale de Lourdes). His goal was for Irish doctors and nurses to share experiences and resources with one another, in order that we can improve the pilgrimage experience together as a nation.
The letter of invitation from Sandro to all Irish members of AMIL can be found at this link: Towards a Meeting of the Irish Members of AMIL
We have already built up a network of over 200 doctors, nurses and other professionals who will be able to support pilgrimages in need of volunteers.
The site is managed by Dr Michael Moran, who is the Irish member of the Comité Medical International de Lourdes (CMIL).
Michael has been travelling to Lourdes for many years; first as a youth helper, then as a doctor with his diocese (Down and Connor), and he also volunteered with the Irish Pilgrimage Trust Easter pilgrimage. Currently he is the Chief Medical Officer for the Down and Connor Diocesan Pilgrimage, and also volunteers with the Hospitalité Notre Dame de Lourdes.
